Save the date the date<p>​Please save the date of April 22nd for an evening focussed on how to foster well-being in your child. Dr. Marcia Benjamin will present to parents while children of all ages participate in activities and exercise centered on well-being!</p>
YMCA child care survey child care survey<p>​<strong>YMCA Child Care and SCDSB need to hear from you!</strong></p><p style="text-align:justify;">Before and after school (B&A) programs offer care programs for children in Kindergarten to grade 6 before and/or after the regular school day and some schools offer full days of care on PA days and holidays.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">B&A will only operate in schools if enough families require care.  </p><p style="text-align:justify;">To help us determine the needs of each school, a survey is being sent home with youngest/only students in kindergarten to grade 5 or you can also complete the survey online by visiting:</p><p style="text-align:justify;"><a href=""><span style="text-decoration:underline;"></span></a></p><p style="text-align:justify;">Even if your child already attends B&A, it is still important to complete the survey. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Please be sure to fill out the survey online or return a paper copy to your school office by <strong>Monday, February 16, 2015.</strong></p><p style="text-align:justify;">Listings will be available in early spring 2015 confirming which schools will operate B&A in September 2015.</p>
Indoor recess recess<p>​<span style="line-height:1.6;">Both the Canadian Paediatric Society and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) recommend minimum temperature limits for outdoor play. These organizations and the SCDSB recommend that </span><strong style="line-height:1.6;">children be kept indoors if the temperature falls below -25°C, or if the wind chill is -28°C or greater </strong><span style="line-height:1.6;">(Canadian Paediatric Society, 2009). Exposed skin will begin to freeze at -27°C.</span><span style="line-height:1.6;">​  Otherwise, our students will be enjoying the outdoors at recess!</span></p>

Bus cancellation information in case of inclement weather cancellation information in case of inclement weather<p>​Although fall has just arrived, winter is just around the corner in Simcoe County. With it comes the possibility of severe weather, challenging winter driving conditions and, as a result, possible bus and school event cancellations. </p><p>All information regarding cancelled buses in Simcoe County is posted on the Simcoe County Student Transportation Consortium's bus information website at <a href="" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration:underline;"></span></a>.  Check our <a href="/about-us/transportation">Transportation</a> page to see which zone our school is in. When buses are cancelled, please remember that schools are still open (unless otherwise noted) for student learning.  </p><p>The Consortium, in conjunction with bus operators, will make the decision to cancel school buses before 6 a.m. and as such, will make every effort to post announcements between 6 and 7 a.m. Parents should also note that inclement weather cancellations are effective for the whole day and buses cancelled in the morning will not run at the end of the day.</p><p>You can also subscribe to receive bus delay notifications here: <a href="" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration:underline;"></span></a> and you can follow the Consortium on Twitter <a href="" target="_blank">@SCSTC_SchoolBus</a>.</p>
